I received my PhD in International Relations and Political Science. I am a researcher at the Complutense Institute of International Studies in Madrid, Spain. In recent years, I have also worked as a technical advisor for the Spanish Parliament (Defense Commission).
My area of specialization is Latin America, and I work on issues of regionalism (UNASUR, Mercosur, CELAC, PROSUR, etc.), peace and security, and European-Latin American relations. I am also interested in International Relations theory.
My most recently published article explores the remilitarization that has taken place in Latin American and its effect on the democracies in Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, and Venezuela. You can find my full list of publications here.
During my stay in Regensburg I would like to improve my skills in methodology and research techniques. I look forward to meeting as many colleagues as possible. My working space will be at the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies at Altes Finanzamt, Landshuter Str. 4, Regensburg.
On Dec 4, Francisco presented his research on "The (Re)Militarization of Latin American Politics: Origin and Consequences" as part of the CITAS Brown Bag Sessions. More information and some impressions from the event can be found here.
