On 23 April, Ulf Brunnbauer opened the research colloquium of the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies and the Leibniz ScienceCampus Europe and America in the Modern World with a Zoom lecture on canned sardines and area studies. He explored the history of the tinned fish industry in Croatia and California, offering insight into the global history and variations in globalization based in local and regional differences, thus showcasing a comparative area studies approach.
