Join us for a compelling film screening that sheds light on the often-invisible lives behind Europe’s food production.
More than two million seasonal harvest workers power the continent’s agriculture – but at what cost? Meet the Pickers follows the personal stories of migrant workers in Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Germany as they harvest olives, oranges, strawberries, and blueberries – often under exploitative and degrading conditions.
Through their voices, the film reveals the human realities behind global supply chains. After the screening, Dr Thiemann (Department of Ecological Anthropology, Prague) will lead a critical discussion on the intersection of political ecology, value chains, and infrastructure, offering anthropological insight into a pressing socio-political issue.
